General Purpose of Position:
The Product Development Intern will work primarily with the Aprecia Product Development department performing duties to support the product development team. The primary responsibilities of this position will be supporting scientists and research associates with data collection and other duties, as assigned. Collaboration with other departments, including Technical Services, Operations, Engineering Innovation, and others may be required when participating in cross-functional initiatives and when carrying out the duties and responsibilities listed below. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
 
  Duties/Responsibilities
1 Gain knowledge of Aprecia’s 3DP manufacturing processes and equipment to support product development research assignments. 
3 Provide support to Aprecia product development personnel during execution of development projects, as requested.
4 Perform physical testing for pharmaceutical powders and tablets and assist with data collection.
5 Participate in specific projects, as delegated, for continuous improvement efforts within Aprecia.
6 Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, as required.
7 While performing manufacturing and laboratory activities, comply with material handling requirements in accordance with environmental health and safety procedures.
8 Perform job responsibilities in compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and all other regulatory requirements, as applicable.
9 Other duties as assigned.

Day shift, Mon - Fri

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Good organizational skills with a collaborative working style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and motivated for completion of projects
  • Statistical analysis and management of data experience a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
Education and Experience:
  • Working toward or completed a Bachelor's degree in a scientific or relevant engineering discipline, e.g., pharmaceutics, chemical engineering, chemistry, biomedical engineering, etc.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:    
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 25 pounds
  • Exposure to odd body positions (i.e. twisted torso, bent over position, etc.) for brief periods of time while completing work in the laboratories or manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to wear PAPR (powered air purifying respirator) or N95 respirator, as well as gowning, steel shoes, safety glasses, gloves, etc., for extended periods.
  • Exposure to chemicals, reagents, and other manufacturing/pharmaceutical products in the performance of regular job duties.
