Their expertise in early childhood development is essential for helping children reach their full potential. Developmental Specialists truly understand a child’s needs and have the ability to assess what a child will require to be successful, including their cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and language skills. After a child’s needs are assessed, our Developmental Specialists begin the process of making learning fun! Developmental Specialists plan engaging activities that are customized for each child and promote growth in various developmental areas. By using these strategies, they can help children meet their milestones and help them reach their goals. They work hand-in-hand with other professionals—like speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and family service coordinators, creating a well-rounded support system. Developmental Specialist Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Early Childhood Education / Development, Family Studies, or a similar field.
- Detail oriented and provides great customer service and follow-through.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively organize and communicate information to target audiences.
Developmental Specialist Responsibilities & Duties
- Provides the services and strategies to meet the child’s outcomes and developmental goals as recorded in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
- Works with parents and other service providers, developing and implementing strategies to help build the child’s skills.
- Attends the Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings with the other team members providing services to the child.
- Provides quality documentation to the EI billing department, according to the FIT program guidelines.
- A car in good working order, a valid driver’s license, and appropriate auto insurance are required to complete home and community visits in the EI program.
