What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at AprilAire?
The Human Resources Generalist is primarily responsible for hiring and employee relations in our facilities. This person’s focus will largely be hiring and onboarding full-time production positions for the Madison and Poynette Plants. As time permits, this person will also support special projects and support employee engagement throughout the plant.
Responsibilities
- Establish relationships with employees that inspire trust, confidence, and respect.
- Provide human resources support services to all employees with a primary focus on the Poynette manufacturing facility and also support to the Madison manufacturing facility.
- Under the direction of HR Manager, understand production recruiting needs and targeted start dates.
- Collaborate with the labor planning team to determine openings and hire to the agreed upon headcount plan.
- Responsible for the internal bid process, posting and awarding positions following the guidelines of the contract.
- Screen candidate resumes and job applications
- Conduct phone interviews using a standard template
- Recruit candidates by using databases, social media, referrals, job fairs and other resources
- Schedule and coordinate candidates for tours in the Madison and Poynette plants
- Conduct in-person interviews and tours in the Madison and Poynette plants
- Coordinate and deliver offers to applicants; work with hiring managers and HR team as needed to ensure alignment
- Update related spreadsheets and iCIMS to maintain applicant flow, support metrics and reporting, and understand open shifts or roles
- Launch onboarding activities (such as emails, calendar events, Paylocity, and background screenings) for new employees
- Follow up with candidate’s pre-start to ensure they start as planned; collect information and update iCims and others to communicate changes to plan
- Follow up with new hires to collect new hire paperwork including I9 and other onboarding materials
- Manage the new employee orientation.
- As a role model, promote and champion company values.
- Interpret and communicate human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, regulations, plant rules and labor contracts.
- Assist with the worker’s compensation process including the completion of incident reports and employee inquiries.
- Counsel supervisors/managers involving production staff personnel issues.
- Assist with all aspects of employee onboarding, benefit administration, and leave of absence program.
- Assist with planning and execution of company- sponsored employee events such as retirements, monthly celebrations, and annual holiday gatherings.
- Prepare and maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions in HRIS.
- Work with department on projects wherever needed.
- Perform administrative tasks within Human Resources Department.
