Job Overview
The Director of Manufacturing plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of our high-speed manufacturing facility, ensuring seamless operations and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President-Operations, this individual is responsible for budgeting, financial management, metrics, KPIs, product quality, customer service levels, safety, staffing, employee experience, and innovation. The Director has 3-6 direct reports and leads a team of up to 250 employees during peak season.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop the annual Plant strategic plan, supporting the Company's Strategic Plan, encompassing quality, cost, capital, customer service, safety, staffing, and continuous improvement.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement throughout the Plant, deploying manufacturing improvement methodologies like Lean principles, 6 Sigma skills, OEE metrics, Line Management Teams, and problem-solving skills.
- Understand, develop, monitor, and achieve financial plans for the Plant, including inbound freight, material, labor, variable and fixed overhead, distribution, and outbound freight.
- Implement year-on-year reduction in total Plant manufacturing cost.
- Develop and deploy the total Plant quality system regarding suppliers, inputs, processes, outputs, and customers.
- Maintain all aspects of safety performance in the Plant, working with the Safety Leader to develop KPIs, assess risks, and implement improvement plans.
- Collaborate with Business Leaders to establish on-time customer service KPIs and ensure successful attainment.
- Work with the Materials team to develop effective production planning processes enhancing schedule attainment, headcount planning, reducing material outages, and improving cost efficiency.
- Lead, develop, and build a high-performing Plant organization capable of managing growth, innovation, and transformation.
