We are seeking an independent contributor as a Residential New Construction Sales Manager-Midwest to drive business to business sales growth and sell indoor air quality solutions to our large volume dealer contractors (in the Residential New Construction space) focused on Zoning and Ventilation products.
Location: In a Midwest city such as Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Cleveland, Nashville, or Cincinnati. Your territory will include North and South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, and Ohio.
Responsibilities
As a Residential New Construction Sales Manager-Midwest, you will own and expand a high-volume dealer base across targeted RNC markets. Your expertise in strategic sales, segmentation, and relationship-building will be key to winning new business and maximizing market share. You will not manage individuals in this role, but indirectly use your influence to gain support for your initiatives.
Grow & Convert Business - Work closely with our Sales and Marketing teams to secure large-scale contractor opportunities. You’ll engage with regional builders, national builder offices, and top-tier RNC contractors to expand our footprint.
Own the Sales Process - From prospecting to closing, you’ll manage contractor timelines, track sales data, schedule key meetings, and develop winning business proposals in collaboration with leadership.
Strategize & Adapt - Stay ahead of market trends, building codes, and product needs to tailor solutions that drive success in each region.
Collaborate for Success - Work cross-functionally with Distribution Managers, Business Development Specialists, and Sales Leadership to execute new business plans, validate sales data, and ensure seamless execution.
Develop new business opportunities and manage existing accounts - Actively oversee a portfolio of 20-30 large-volume RNC contractors, ensuring commitments are met and driving continued growth year over year.
Be a Product Expert - Maintain in-depth knowledge of AprilAire’s ventilation solutions, building codes, and full product line to position our offerings effectively.

- Ability to get to the decision maker with residential home builders and contractors, and develop a plan to convert and grow business.
- Effective skills to analyze, segment, and prioritize key contractor opportunities
- Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills with high-volume dealer accounts
- Goal orientated and motivated while putting together a strategic plan to win business
- Skilled at selling value and intangibles over price.
- Self-disciplined - ability to choose a task, create a plan, and execute that plan.
- Skilled in the use of CRM software and Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.
- Persuasive and curious with an ability to hole others accountable.
- Ability to think on your feet in selling situations, and make decisions in the selling process in line with company guidelines and objectives.
- Ability to travel up to 10-15 overnights per month in your territory.
- Valid driver's license.
- Update plans with the previous week's results and opportunities weekly in Goldmine.
- Maintain and prepare dashboards and weekly and quarterly reports for sold and targeted contractors, with detail for potential, short- and long-term plans and timelines.
- Plans and high-level agenda are proactively reported weekly, with previous week's results and associated opportunities.
