Overview
The Supply Chain Planner collaborates with several internal teams and external suppliers to ensure sufficient supplies are on hand to maintain production schedules and fulfill customer demand. This role will prepare and maintain purchase orders based on MRP recommendations and order quantity requirements, collaborate to resolve supply or quality issues, and identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement.

The Supply Chain Planner collaborates with several internal teams and external suppliers to ensure sufficient supplies are on hand to maintain production schedules and fulfill customer demand. This role will prepare and maintain purchase orders based on MRP recommendations and order quantity requirements, collaborate to resolve supply or quality issues, and identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain purchase orders based on MRP recommendations and order quantity requirements to satisfy production schedules
- Develop and cultivate relationships with suppliers.
- Attend supplier visits, quarterly business reviews, and new product reviews to ensure alignment with strategic suppliers (partner with procurement)
- Lead (with consult from SCM) scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of planning team
- Collaborate with procurement to resolve quality issues resulting in supply constraints.
- Manage late order report, order action report, and negative balance report and take corrective action
- Maintain system codes, part master control data, safety stocks, reorder point data and automated purchasing system data.
- Assist in productivity projects impacting annual 4% savings of operational cost: primary materials responsibility for effectivity of change and quick implementation of cost savings.
- Manage Kanban/daily deliveries.
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives
- Provide opportunities for cost and inventory savings
- Interact with manufacturing, sales, engineering and accounting teams
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business with experience in Supply Chain Management, and 2 years of progressive experience in procurement planning for a multi-plant environment, including systems and technical expertise utilizing ERP/MRP software or a combination of education and experience.
- APICS Certification highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as daily reports, MRP reports, Master Schedule, manufacturing and purchase orders.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Advanced level of experience in production, labor, inventory, space, and procurement planning for a multi-plant environment.
- A deep understanding of manufacturing systems is required. Including: analysis and interpretation of MRP reports, purchase orders, and production schedules.
