Summary

The Community Event Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing corporate, business unit, and community events that align with company objectives and enhance brand perception. This role involves managing all aspects of event logistics, including vendor coordination, budgeting, and on-site execution, to ensure seamless experiences for internal and external audiences.

The Community Event Specialist collaborates with corporate leaders, civic and municipal representatives, and cross-functional teams to develop impactful events that support business goals. Events may include high-profile engagements with executive visibility, requiring strong attention to detail, strategic planning, and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement event strategies that align with corporate and business unit objectives.
  • Manage all logistical aspects, including venue selection, budgeting, scheduling, vendor negotiations, and on-site execution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure a successful event experience.
  • Ensure events reflect the company's brand and messaging while fostering positive relationships with key audiences.
  • Handle event-related communications, including invitations, promotions, and follow-ups.
  • Monitor event effectiveness, gather feedback, and implement improvements for future engagements.

This role requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple high-visibility events simultaneously.

Minimum Requirements

  • A four-year Bachelors degree in business, communications, public relations or other job-related field from an accredited college or university plus three (3) years relevant experience in managing / coordinating community, non-profit and / or work-related events, programs and activities in support of overall company image.
  • In lieu of bachelors degree, a combination of college coursework and / or experience in managing / coordinating community, non-profit and / or work-related events equaling seven (7) years.
  • Requires frequent evening and weekend work as well as the potential for statewide overnight travel.
  • Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications :

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of company values, corporate and departmental strategies to assist in decision-making process.
  • Nuclear requirement : Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.

    Major Accountabilities

    1) Works with internal clients to establish goals and desired outcomes for company and community meetings and events to ensure successful implementation, quality standards and post-event evaluation.

    2) Plans and implements company and community meeting and event activities, assesses resource requirements, and procure and manage material resources.

    3) Coordinates the activities of vendors and outside agencies in the implementation of events and activities.

    4) Manages assigned budgets and allocations for events and activities.

    5) Coordinates event preparation stages through brainstorm, set up and tear down; creation of banners, advertisements and educational displays, and company materials distributed at events.

    6) Contributes, as part of internal or external communications team, to the achievement of specific goals and objectives, modeling corporate cultural standards of behavior and maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality relating to work.

    7) Procures giveaways and other company materials as needed.

    8) May support the Communications team with creative, including newsletter story writing, light event photography and overall creative ideation and execution.

    Hybrid : Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

    In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
