Summary/Objectives
Performance of routine and preventative building maintenance tasks in one or more fields, including carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditions, plumbing, etc. Performs general cleaning.
Essential Functions
- Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair and recommendations using pre-established check sheet.
- Perform minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g., wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
- Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching, and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
- Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g., preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayers, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibility
The position has no direct reports.
Work Environment
Outdoors, exposed to changing and/or extreme weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, humidity, etc.).
Physical Demands
Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily production/technical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily 8 hours each day, Monday through Friday on a day shift. This position often requires overtime.
Travel
This position does not have any travel requirements.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
One-year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent education and experience.
Forklift Certification preferred.
Computer Operations
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Use miscellaneous office equipment (e.g., calculators, typewriters, computers, FAX machines, copiers, etc.).
Work Authorization/Security Clerance
Must be able to obtain TWIC badge (Transportation Working Identification Card).
