Role: Quality Control Superintendent (Mechanical Engineer)

Pay Range: $125,000 - $170,000
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the prestigious 10-story, $200 M, 255,000 GSF Fort Lauderdale US Courthouse project. This full-time, on-site role will support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and construction, ensuring the project adheres to the highest quality standards. The position is scheduled to start in January 2025 and will run through substantial completion in December 2026.
Role Overview:
As a Senior MEP Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will play a critical role in design review, construction document interpretation, and quality assurance for MEP systems. Your professional registration as a mechanical engineer, along with specialized experience, will be essential to ensuring the successful execution of this federal project.
- Serve as the on-site quality assurance inspector for MEP/HVAC systems.
- Oversee Building System Commissioning (Cx), ensuring alignment with the design intent.
- Coordinate with the Design-Builder’s Commissioning Plan to verify system performance.
- Work closely with APSI’s Commissioning Agent (CxA) to provide oversight and technical support.
- Offer technical assistance beyond your immediate area of expertise as needed.
- Participate in project meetings to uphold the project’s best interests throughout the commissioning process, substantial completion, and final acceptance.
Required Qualifications:
- Professional registration as a mechanical engineer.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of specialized experience in mechanical engineering, focusing on design review and quality assurance for MEP systems.
- Engineering degree from an accredited institution (advanced degrees are a plus).
- Ability to obtain and pass a U.S. government security clearance (active clearance preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GSA Courthouse projects or equivalent MEP scope and commissioning.
- Commissioning experience with relevant industry standards, including:
- ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 202 - 2018
- ASHRAE Guideline 0-2005: The Commissioning Process
- GSA Total Building Commissioning Guide
- Whole Building Design Guide
- Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with general contractors, designers, and owners.
- Proficiency in digital communication and documentation tools.
