Position Summary: The Senior Buyer oversees the strategic procurement process, sourcing high-quality goods, managing supplier relationships, and preparing competitive quotes to meet company objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Quote and procure customer turnkey assembly and MRO buys. Control inventory
- Source and review bids from suppliers to ensure they meet company’s standards for quality, price, and lead time. Identifies shortages from MRP and process purchase orders to meet production schedules and expedite backlogs
- Interface with Quality, Material, Production, Receiving/Shipping, and Engineering, and Program Managers. Resolve any disputes arise from receiving material or lack of documentation to accept material. Supports Program Managers in assisting customer’s requirement
- Build relationships with vendors to source and negotiate competitive rates for products and services
- Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Requires some management responsibility to support Purchasing Manager
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering preferred or equivalent education and work experience
- Minimum 7 years in related electronics manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of military requirements and international standards
- Ability to interpret drawings
- Ability to work in fast-pace contract manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated track record of achieving results in a team based and collaborative environment
- Must be comfortable in challenging “status-quo” and able to recommend solutions
- Strong analytical and communication skills to solve problems. Strong interpersonal skill to work with team members and various departments, suppliers, and customers
- Electronic/contract manufacturing industry experience preferred
