Join Our Team as an Adult Family Home Direct Support Professional!
About Aptiv:
Aptiv is passionate about carrying out our mission of providing a spectrum of innovative support for individuals with disabilities so they may live more independent lives. We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through various services and programs. Our organization is committed to fostering an environment where individuals can thrive, achieve their goals, and contribute meaningfully to society. Compensation and Schedule:
- Part-time, about 28 hours a week.
- Rotated weekend availability is required!
- Competitive hourly wage of $16.75 with a $1.50 shift differential for weekend shifts
Responsibilities:
As a Direct Support Staff, you get to facilitate your adult clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live with independence and dignity in the community. With up to four roommates living in a home under a true roommate arrangement, the feeling is family-like, rather than institutional. And, since you work with the same limited number of clients regularly, you get to know them very well. You feel great about facilitating a full life for these individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that you have the privilege to work with!
You do more than just assist with medications, meals, light housekeeping, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, errands, and appointments. While those tasks are important, you also provide companionship and socialization, as you support your clients in visiting with friends, attending events, or working on hobbies. You help them stay healthy in all areas by making sure that they are mentally stimulated, physically active, and well-nourished, encouraging their independence as much as possible.
Qualifications:
Required:
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to work rotating weekends
- Negative TB skin test (provided by Aptiv)
- Ability to pass a background test
- A valid driver's license and good driving record
- Reliable transportation with valid registration and up-to-date auto insurance
- Any previous experience is a plus but not required. We will train the right person for this entry-level position! Extensive training is provided to respond to both behavioral and medical challenges that can occur.
