Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) will provide emergency medical care under physician supervision, managing patient cases in the ED. The APP will work collaboratively with emergency physicians to ensure timely and effective patient care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform patient evaluations, physical exams, and order diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and injuries, including wound care, respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal issues, and minor procedures.
- Assist in emergency resuscitation and stabilization efforts.
- Administer medications and treatments as per VA guidelines.
- Educate patients on post-discharge care and follow-up.
- Maintain compliance with documentation and patient care standards.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with emergency medicine experience.
- PA candidates must have a valid license in the same state as the supervising physician.
- Minimum of five years of recent emergency department experience (for APPs without an emergency medicine certification).
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Strong clinical decision-making and teamwork skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Full-time coverage, including weekdays and weekends.
- Daytime and evening shifts available (e.g., 9 AM - 7 PM, 4 PM - 2 AM).
- APPs work alongside emergency physicians to support patient care delivery.
