Job Summary
We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Anesthesiologists to provide high-quality perioperative care at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. This role involves direct patient care, on-site anesthetic services, and on-call availability. The provider will work in collaboration with other medical professionals to support veterans' surgical needs and ensure continuity of care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide full-spectrum anesthesia services for a variety of surgical cases.
- Supervise and collaborate with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and medical residents.
- Provide intraoperative and postoperative care including SICU and ward follow-up rounds.
- Participate in staff meetings, morbidity & mortality conferences, and quality improvement activities.
- Document care and maintain accurate and timely records in the VA's EHR system.
- Respond to calls and emergencies, being on-site within 40 minutes if on-call.
- Ensure compliance with all VA policies, VHA directives, and patient safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or DO with completion of an accredited anesthesiology residency.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Must meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must pass background checks and health screenings (TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza).
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in academic or VA medical settings.
- Familiarity with VA systems including VistA/CPRS.
- Commitment to veteran-focused care.
