Overview: The Eastern Colorado Health Care System is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Medical Support Assistants (MSA). As an MSA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring Veterans receive timely and efficient healthcare services by providing essential administrative support across various clinics.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Appointment Scheduling: Interpret and verify provider orders to schedule, reschedule, or cancel patient appointments in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) national scheduling guidelines.
- Patient Reception and Communication: Greet Veterans and their families, answer incoming calls, and address inquiries or direct them to appropriate clinical staff.
- Records Management: Accurately enter, update, and manage patient information in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Insurance Coordination: Collect, scan, and update health insurance information to support the revenue collection process.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in team meetings and huddles to coordinate patient care, manage clinic schedules, and ensure effective communication among interdisciplinary team members.
- Administrative Support: Assist with clerical duties such as preparing correspondence, managing clinic profiles, and processing consults and referrals.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in administrative support within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in healthcare administration is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in computer applications and EHR systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
