SCOPE: All Dishwashers of Aqua Ridge of Montclair are key team members maintaining full accountability for the fulfillment of the mission of Aqua Ridge of Montclair. This position is responsible for ensuring all equipment and utensils used for food preparation and services are returned to the kitchen, cleansed, sanitized, and properly stored. Perform a variety of duties in and around the kitchen.
Position Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age, with proper school work authorization Have criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community Passed post-offer health physical and drug screen
TB test results within 7 days of hire and a health screen within 30 days of hire (when transferring test results TB or health screen will not be older than 6 months)
Current Food Handlers Permit for state/ county in which employed
Able to operate commercial dishwasher
Able to understand food service safety and sanitation requirements
Experience with requirements for dish cleansing and sanitation preferred Experience in the food service industry preferred
Able to lift up to 30 lbs.; constant standing and reaching required
Ability to effectively communicate in English
Willing and able to adapt to changes in kitchen routine at any given time
Must have basic knowledge of state regulations, health laws, and OSHA regulations
Able to follow up and multi-task
Core Responsibilities:
This position provides a high level of customer service to both residents and team members. This position is responsible for assisting with the receipt, storage, preparation, and presentation of food as required by the Culinary Director and for adhering to safety practices for the community according to Aqua Ridge of Montclair's policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations.
Cleaning/Sanitation
Ensure cleanliness of major kitchen equipment and for washing, sanitizing, drying, and storing china, glass, silverware, pots, pans, and utensils by:
o Transporting all dishes to the kitchen following meal preparation and meal times o Properly clearing, washing, sanitizing, and restocking all dishes, silverware, and glassware
o Properly washing pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils
o Returning dishes and utensils to appropriate storage areas
o Breaking down kitchen for clean up
Ensure all sanitary and safety standards are met
Empty and clean kitchen trash receptacles and replace liners
Clean filters in range hood weekly or as per schedule
Mop kitchen floor daily and as needed and ensure kitchen floor is clean and dry
Ensure the loading dock and dumpster areas are clean
Clean serving carts and trays after each meal
Perform sanitation clean up of dish room, kitchen, dining areas, steam tables, range hoods, sinks, and drains by:
o Washing condiment containers after every meal
o Washing edges and legs of tables and chairs, including the arms, seats, backs, and legs of chairs, after every meal
o Vacuuming dining room after each meal
o Deep cleaning dining room per schedule
Manage, monitor, and maintain all aspects of the auto dish machine, such as chemicals, water temperature, filters, spray arms, etc. Monitor dishwasher temperatures and sanitation chemicals (where applicable)
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a safe and clean manner
Food Preparation:
Assist Cook and Culinary Director in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, including the dry storage area and refrigeration and freezer areas.
Assist in ensuring food is handled and stored properly
Maintain clean, well-organized coffee and juice bar
Assist with preparation of food items such as the salad bar, desserts, and sandwiches
