What are the responsibilities and job description for the (Entry) Maintenance/Mechanical Technician (Rapid Training for Fast Growth) position at Aquality Construction?
Job Overview:
Aquality Pools & Spas, a high-end residential pool maintenance and service company, seeks a motivated candidate to join our dedicated team. Our team prides itself on their constant personal and professional growth, their teamwork, and having a good time throughout it all! The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, can take initiative, has the ability to think critically and has excellent communication skills. Experience in swimming pools is an advantage but by no means is it a requirement. This role involves providing the most comprehensive year-round pool & spa care possible to our valued clients, maintaining precise water chemistry using LSI, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, communicating with clients and team members, and consistently delivering top-quality service. We prioritize client communication, professionalism, and a detail-oriented approach, and our commitment to employee growth means you’ll have ample opportunity for growth & advancement in this fast growing company.
Growth Plan: Aquality Pools & Spas has grown by approximately 75% each year for five years. This means each employee hired has had an opportunity to move up as new employees are hired after them. Each new hire will have a 30 day training period to shadow a trainer and learn the basics of the job responsibilities. The next 30 days they will be shadowed by a trainer and be performing the job duties themselves. After 60 days, each new employee is expected to be able to perform their job duties without a trainer with them, although training will continue, and support is always available upon request.
How is Aquality Pools & Spas different from any other Pool Maintenance/Service Company:
Every pool that we maintain has Pentair equipment, variable speed pumps, intellichems, intellitouch/center, and most have ETi heaters, this allows us to stock all replacement parts and to expedite employee training since they only have to learn one manufacturer. It also allows us to train inexperienced employees faster, as they only have to learn one set of equipment. We do not winterize our pools, they stay open year-round, so we have year round work for every employee and don't suffer from a Spring/Fall opening/closing rush that requires hiring inexperienced employees. Every tech earns their CWO, CPO and beyond, sponsored by Aquality Pools & Spas, and we all join together every Friday to share what we learned that week so that we can learn from everyone's experiences (Fun Fact Friday). The third Friday of every other month the whole company shuts down and everyone gets paid 8 hours to not work, this is our way of thanking our employees for their dedication and hard work. Each tech services 3-5 stops per day, they are not splash n dash, we spend time to make sure everything is working as intended and the clients can enjoy a clean and balanced pool/spa. We perform Annual Preventative Maintenance on every pool/spa, with a different task each month. These are items that should be done, but no other company makes time to do them. For instance, check the heater condensate pH, check all bonding in the mech room and clean the mech room, clean leaves out of the cover box, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular, year-round maintenance on client pools and spas as needed if another tech is out, ensuring balanced water chemistry and smooth system operation to provide a more enjoyable experience.
- Equipment Expertise: Utilize extensive knowledge of Coverstar & Pentair equipment, including low voltage, automation, and IntelliChems systems, to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot all pool and spa equipment.
- Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues proactively during routine visits, preventing costly repairs and minimizing service calls for clients.
- Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring prompt, clear communication regarding maintenance, potential improvements, and addressing any concerns they may have. We encourage clients to call or email if they need specific improvements, feedback, or service accommodations.
- Scheduling & Flexibility: Manage your schedule flexibly, allowing time for in-depth checks and repairs. We understand that comprehensive pool service requires adaptability; our clients appreciate that any issues discovered during routine maintenance are resolved immediately, even if it delays the schedule by a day.
- Event Prep: Be available to support clients by scheduling pool cleanings or temperature checks before special events, such as parties, holiday weekends, or out-of-town guests, at no extra charge.
Our Approach:
At Aquality Pools & Spas, we’re passionate about high-quality service and ensuring our clients’ pools and spas are pristine year-round. Unlike other maintenance contractors, we carefully control our client roster, only taking on pools that have enclosed equipment rooms and are willing to upgrade their systems to our required set of equipment to ensure we can consistently meet our high service standards. We prioritize training for our Maintenance Techs, focusing on water chemistry, equipment troubleshooting, and attention to detail, so clients can enjoy their pools worry-free. We do not operate on flat-rate maintenance fees, we have a minimum fee then bill everything hourly plus materials.
Qualifications:
- Experience: None required, however, the more experience you have with Pentair systems, especially Intellichems, with CoverStar, LSI, etc. the more your pay will be starting out. With no experience, you'll start as a Tier 1 Route Manager and have a clear path for growth, earning atleast two raises per year according to the growth you show.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients in person and over emails, explaining maintenance details, and managing expectations. Also to communicate with your team to help coordinate for unexpected repairs, cleanings etc.
- Time Management: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a flexible schedule, balancing routine visits and unexpected repairs. Also offering other Team Member's your help when you're ahead of schedule and someone else needs help.
