- Work with General Curator to accomplish facility goals and expectations.
- Supervises all Dive Operations employees including subordinate managers, supervisors, hourly employees and contracted instructional staff.
- Responsible for timely and accurate departmental reports as requested.
- Responsible for Departmental Supply and Labor budgets.
- Daily support for all diving operations.
- Works in with facility managers to accomplish goals of Dive Operations Department.
- Administration of all company/ dive operations/ safety policies and procedures set forth by Corporate Dive Operations Manager and other supervisory entities as appropriate.
- Be a member of the Dive Control Board - participate in the annual DCB meeting.
- Responsible for dive safety and driving training and documentation for all Staff, and contractors as appropriate.
- Assure facility compliance with all applicable diving regulations including but not limited to OSHA, AAUS and RSTC standards.
- Establishment and implementation of dive protocols for all exhibits.
- 1 year experience as DSO or equivalent position (public aquarium or zoo) or 3 years experience as ADSO or equivalent position (public aquarium or zoo).
- Biology Degree or related scientific degree preferred.
- Scuba Instructor certification required from a nationally recognized scuba cert. agency.
- Active Teaching Status with 1 year of active teaching preferred.
- AAUS Scientific Diver or Instructor preferred.
- Equipment repair technician preferred (ScubaPro, OTS Guardian, PSI).
- Oxygen Administration/ CPR/ First Aid/ AED Instructor certifications preferred.
