What you will be doing as the Hydraulic Field Engineer:
- Develop mobile power systems expertise through research, test, and analysis for off-highway mobile systems for agricultural, construction, material handling, turf, specialty, and concrete mixer systems.
- In cooperation with the Sales team and Customers during initial stages of application development, evaluate customer specifications and contribute to technical proposals that lead to new business. In support of said proposals, provide technical training, perform product application technical assessments and documentation of these activities.
- Perform basic mechanical and hydraulic design calculations related to pressure, flow, speed, torque, geometry, etc. in cooperation with Sales and Engineering teams.
- Prepare and execute risk-based assessment, testing, and validation plans for each application in coordination with commercial activity.
- Review installation and perform field testing on products selected and applications; assess results and establish corrective actions as appropriate.
- Lead application design reviews, update project documentation, and secure formal customer approval of final design and specifications.
- Plan and execute the inspection of products returned by customers, document inspection results, coordinate root-cause/corrective action efforts, and deliver report to the customers.
- Investigate machine problems or component failures via application of the 8D problem solving method. Recommend corrective actions, system design changes or alternate components or features.
- Identify and recommend Company product improvements. Give inputs for new product & solution development.
- Execute the application review process, identify, promote, and implement improvements into the process and supporting tools.
What you will need as the Hydraulic Field Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required, engineering degree preferred.
- Technical skills and previous hands-on experience in hydraulics, planetary drives and electric drives for mobile applications are strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time, including some international travel.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), technical writing skills/experience preferred.
- Machine testing experience a plus, including experience with instrumentation systems such as SOMAT, Hydrotechnik, LabView, or similar.
