TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Safely operates a non-CDL commercial vehicle through various settings; 1 to 2 days a week
- Performs labor duties at the nursery when not driving; 3 to 4 days a week
- Loads, delivers and unloads live cargo in a safe and courteous manner; while following nursery standards
- Responds with a sense of urgency to meet the needs of customers
- Responsible for the completion of daily truck logs; including pre/post trip inspections
- Tarps and secures cargo when appropriate
- Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle and equipment
- Maintains a safe driving record, obeys all applicable traffic laws, and drives in accordance with weather/road conditions
- Operates other equipment when/as needed (skid loader, forklift & pallet jack)
- Responsible for ground maintenance at nursery including weeding and mowing
- Assists nursery team with potting and production when/as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant driving experience with a truck/trailer, box or flatbed truck is preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel out of town for extended periods
- High school or equivalent educational experience is a plus
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Excellent customer service and time management skills
- Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks independently
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and meet necessary deadlines
- Must be able to physically stand, bend, squat, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able and willing to work overtime if needed
- Must follow all company rules, regulations, policies, guidelines, etc.
