We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced COBOL Programmer/Senior Developer to join our team. This role involves converting business requirements into reliable programming solutions, maintaining and enhancing custom software, and providing production support.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of COBOL programming on the AS400 Server. This temp-to-full-time position presents an exciting opportunity to work on critical projects, enhance technical expertise, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Convert analysis and design documents, along with specifications, into well-structured programs.
- Update and enhance existing COBOL, JAVA, CL, and SQL programs by implementing and testing modifications.
- Provide production support while collaborating with team members and customer support.
Required Skills/Experience:
- At least six years of experience in COBOL and Java development.
- Proven expertise in writing and maintaining legacy COBOL code.
- Experience in developing and maintaining CLP programs and working with SQL.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, testing, and debugging software to ensure accurate results.
- Strong analytical skills to support database reporting and connectivity with other servers.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience in the insurance field is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with pro-rating algorithms is preferred but not mandatory.
