Description
The Behavioral Health Technician assists residents/clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders, working under direction of clinical, nursing and medical staff and direct supervision of the housing manager. Duties and responsibilities include assisting clients with housekeeping tasks, daily living and daily schedules; leading clients in educational and recreational activities; support the delivery of individual client care; accompanying patients to and from examinations and treatments; conducting house meetings as needed and/or directed; conduct inspections and searches as directed; ensure house rules, policies and procedures are followed; complete reports as required and take daily census; establish relationships with residents to assist with their psycho-social development and recovery; maintain organized records, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and be able to interact appropriately and professionally with women who are working on their recovery. Candidates must also be able to effectively handle emergency/crisis situations as they arise. This position is also involved in supporting residents to develop recovery plans and teaching residents skills needed to live in recovery.
• Monitors client activities, provides security checks throughout shift, completes documentation to include, but not limited to, rounds sheets and End of Shift reports; records client behavior.
• Participates in direct client care including ensuring patient safety and interacting therapeutically.
• Assists in the activities of clients’ daily schedule.
• Assists with de-escalation.
• Performs all aspects of client belongings processing for new admissions and resulting from visitations, including search, debugging, and delivery.
• Assists client(s) with packing of belongings in preparation for discharge.
• Monitors client(s) activities
• Assists with all aspects of visitation program, including greeting, sign-in, orientation, search and belongings processing.
• Transport client(s) to and from appointments, outside vendors/meetings as assigned.
• Is proficient with all technology hardware, company systems and tools required to perform duties.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Certified Peer Specialist, Certified Recovery Specialist preferred
• CPR /Frist Aid preferred
• Narcan Certified preferred
• Experience of 1 year working in substance use disorder treatment preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with all technology hardware, systems and tools required to perform duties; training will be provided as needed.
• Demonstrates appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with clients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
• Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, clients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.
• Willingness to obtain additional education and training including Basic First Aid, CPF, Mental Health First Aid, and drug testing procedures
• Must have minor house maintenance/repair skills
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of community resources
• Drivers License preferred by not required.
