What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant or Associate Professor of English position at Aquinas College?
The English Department at Aquinas College seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty opening for an open rank position of Assistant or Associate Professor of English with a generalist's preparation in writing. Preferred candidates will demonstrate evidence of effective digital writing pedagogy and have expertise in one or more of the following areas: grant writing, technical writing, journalism, composition and rhetoric, creative writing (poetry or script writing), linguistics. Candidates with secondary qualifications in Early American, Early British, or African American literature may have the opportunity to teach courses in those areas according to departmental needs.
Applicants should have experience working with traditionally underrepresented student communities and be committed to exploring innovative pedagogical initiatives, including Aquinas College's developing block model program.
The positions are scheduled to begin in the Fall of 2025.
Candidates must have a PhD in English or a related field by August 1, 2025. Successful candidates will be expected to teach three courses per semester, maintain scholarship within their field, and offer service to the Department and the College. Service to the Department may include advising the campus newspaper and/or other campus publications.
