Aquinas Financial Aid Department is seeking a dynamic Financial Aid professional.
This position oversees the administration of all federal, state and college financial aid programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. It maintains all electronic processes within the aid office which includes electronic data exchange with the federal processor, electronic loan processing and enrollment verification with the National Student Loan Clearinghouse. This position also disseminates information to the general public on issues concerning the application process for Federal Financial Aid and works closely with the larger enrollment team to maximize enrollment and net revenue.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversees and monitors all financial aid administered at the College
- Processes disbursements of the federal aid programs which includes all Federal loans, Pell grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants and Federal Work study.
- Manages all disbursements via the US Department of Educations Common Origination and Disbursement (COD). Reconciles all programs on a monthly basis.
- Communicates with the Student Accounts Office on available draw from disbursed federal funding
- Manages all processes concerning the application for financial aid which includes the electronic application and distribution of all federal, state and institutional aid sources.
- Researches and keeps current with regulations concerning changes in college policy and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Works with admissions to ensure maximum enrollment while monitoring expenditures
- Calculates and inputs awards for all new students and monitors revisions during the recruitment process.
- Calculates and inputs awards for returning students.
- Serves as a resource person for internal and external parties concerning application process.
- Monitors all budget expenditures from all programs.
- Completes all federal, state and institutional reporting.
- Reviews evidence of fraud within the federal aid programs and notify the college's legal counsel
- Completes all reporting to financial aid leveraging partner on enrollment management
- Reports all enrollment to the National Student Loan Database on a monthly basis
- Oversees VA benefits and reporting
- Hires, trains and supervises financial aid staff
- Ensures compliance with College policies and procedures.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
- Experience Ellucian Colleague and Slate CRM systems highly preferred
- Must have at least 5 years of progressive experience administering financial aid
- Must have supervisory experience
- Must be able to work nights and weekends to meet deadlines and support student needs
- Must be able to effectively use government websites and databases
- Must be professional and have strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
