Aquinas Consulting is seeking to a fill a Senior Payroll Manager job for our client in Cleveland, OH. This role provides leadership and direction for payroll operations across multiple states and locations. The Senior Payroll Manager will drive strategic initiatives, oversee compliance, and lead a team of payroll professionals while optimizing payroll processes and service delivery.
Senior Payroll Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for payroll operations.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives and system modernization projects.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for payroll efficiency.
- Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on payroll-related matters.
- Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis and Corporate Accounting to manage payroll budgets and cost allocations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Direct payroll processing for multi-state and multi-entity operations.
- Oversee payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
- Lead periodic payroll audits and maintain strong internal control frameworks.
- Mentor and develop payroll administrators, fostering a high-performing team.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee payroll-related risk management.
- Collaborate with HR and Legal teams on employment law and benefits-related payroll issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 10 years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
- Experience managing payroll operations for 1000 employees across multiple states.
- Proven expertise in payroll tax laws, compliance, and multi-state regulations.
- Strong background in payroll system implementations and transformation projects.
- Experience with merger and acquisition payroll integration is a plus.
- Proficiency in Paylocity or other major HRIS platforms.
- Strong communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to manage complex vendor relationships and drive organizational change.
