HCS-D Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable HCSD Certified Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and facilitating efficient medical billing processes. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within an office environment.

Duties

• Review and analyze patient medical records to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
• Ensure appropriate ICD-10 coding and sequencing as it relates to the paitent's medical condition, including co-morbidities.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of coded data to support medical billing and collections.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies in coding.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices in the healthcare industry.
• Participate in audits and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with coding standards.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical coding, preferably within a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with medical records management and medical office systems.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, billing processes, and collections.
• Experience with ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG coding systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
