What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Test Engineer position at ARA Brand?
The Applied Research Test Technology Division in Albuquerque, NM is looking for a Junior Test Engineer. In this role, you will assist the Engineering and Scientific staff in performing integration of COTS software/hardware with unique test articles and research platforms. This position is responsible for recording and interpreting calibration data for analog pressure gauges, thermocouples, accelerometers, etc. The candidate will be responsible for identifying out-of-tolerance readings and documenting findings in detailed reports. You will gain a deep understanding of defense research related to weapons effects, penetrating weapons, and energetics. In addition to your technical role, you will assist with program status reporting.
Position Responsibilities:
- The ability to interface with customers/executives and communicate effectively with key stakeholders, and subsequently manage team members towards meeting project objectives
- Read and interpreted blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work or military experience
- Be able to install, repair, and maintain general test equipment.
- Be able to install, repair, and maintain equipment used as calibration standards.
- Have an understanding of NIST metrology standards/traceability for calibration standards.
- Diagnose errors or technical issues and identify appropriate solutions.
- Possess critical thinking and collaborative skills.
- Produce detailed and timely service reports.
- Conducting regular maintenance checks on calibration equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose issues with malfunctioning equipment, perform minor repairs, and coordinate with vendors for complex repairs/calibration when necessary.
- Coordinate and maintain official logs for instrument calibration, ensuring that instruments have appropriate calibration certificates to support program test schedules.
- Document processes and procedures
- Ability to work in outdoor remote test environments such as the Chestnut range, PHETS, Stallion, etc. areas of KAFB and WSMR
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Adhere to company protocols and field procedures
- Operate vehicles safely and use field automation systems
- Collaborate with the technical team and share information
Typical Education/Experience:
Typically, three (3) or more years of related work experience or relevant military experience. Education can substitute for experience.

Work Shift:
This position is salaried at 40 hours per week on a DoD Government facility. The location is at the PHETS area of WSMR.
Summary pay range: $81,700 - $91,913
