Araceli Biosciences seeks an experienced and energetic Business Development Manager (BDM) located in either San Francisco, CA or San Diego, CA to drive capital equipment sales of our drug discovery portfolio in the High Content Imaging and Analysis (HCA) space. Specifically, candidates must have recent experience selling capital equipment direct to scientific labs in pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as academic institutions performing imaging, microscopy, high-content screening and the like. The BDM will organically grow and build relationships across the prospective customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for selling Araceli capital equipment, software and solutions to the Western region of the United States. Focus is primarily CA, OR, WA, AZ, TX, CO and UT
- Demonstrate knowledge of scientific instruments and software analysis tools
- Demonstrate clear technology and product expertise in the area of drug discovery research, specifically high content cellular screening, high-content imaging and analysis, and microscopy
- Act as a voice of customer as appropriate, manage follow-up and complaint resolution in a timely manner
- Develop understanding of the individual needs, preferences, and motivations of each customer, while cultivating and managing relationships
- Utilize solutions-based selling methodologies to grow the high content analysis portfolio in accordance with the strategic business goals
- Demonstrate clear product and technology expertise to advise customers in high content imaging with tour portfolio
- Arrange pre-sales seminars and field or remote demonstrations (when needed) in conjunction with Field Applications Support (FAS)
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal scientific experts including field applications scientists, laboratory scientists and other staff, in support of your sales and customer objectives
- Manage and minimize the sales cycle timeline, while implementing tracking mechanisms for the management of the opportunity funnel in salesforce
- Prospect for new opportunities, and develop new leads for conversion and new opportunity creation in salesforce
- Maintain a rolling 4-Quarter funnel for health and visibility of business, and to achieve sales targets and annual quota
Experience & Qualifications:
- A BS degree, or alternatively a degree in business with Life Sciences or Drug Discovery experience will be considered
- A combination of at least 3 - 5 years of capital equipment sales or business development in Life Sciences markets
- Knowledge and understanding of the Life Sciences and Drug Discovery industry
- History of selling directly to life sciences laboratories, academic, pharmaceutical and biotech customers
- Understanding of microscopy, data analysis, and drug discovery workflows
- Experience working with or selling capital equipment and scientific software
- Exceptional time management, sales negotiating and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Focused, organized, and team-focused selling experience
- Proficient in salesforce.com, and utilization of LinkedIN Sales Navigator, Signal Hire and other customer outreach applications
- Ability to travel up to 40% - 50% in support of customer sales and marketing needs

Araceli Offers:
Cash compensation in this role is a combination of a base salary plus commission earned on sales. Combined base and commission compensation can range between $200,000 and $240,000, depending on experience.
