Driver

Job Summary

The Class A Driver is primarily responsible for delivering merchandise on time. This position will require a valid CA Class A Driver License with a clean driving record. The driver must agree and consent to undergo a drug test at any given time. This position will additionally be required to demonstrate the ability to work independently and accept direction on various different tasks.

General Accountabilities

• Follows delivery schedule from warehouse management, verifying instructions and routes, and completes deliveries in a timely manner.
• Drives safely and adheres to all traffic laws.
• Willing to take full responsibility for all traffic violations.
• Loads, unloads, picks, and packs using dollies, pallet jacks, and electric forklifts.
• Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Inspects truck tire pressure, battery, gas gauge, and directional signals on a daily basis.
• Checks vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to warehouse management.
• Counts and verifies all damaged merchandise and completes the return process according to company policy.
• Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Effectively communicates with customers regarding the delivery of their orders and returns.
• Obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collects payment for services when required.
• Reports and documents any and all damages and shortages of merchandise to warehouse management.
• Checks condition of trailer after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
• Adheres to all safety standards set forth by company policy.
• Ensures that orders loaded onto the truck remain within the weight capacity.
• Must be willing to perform other tasks as required by the warehouse.
• Must agree and consent to undergo a drug test at any given time.
• The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
