Overview
We are seeking an Advanced Materials Research Specialist to join our Research & Analytical Services Department (RA&SD).
RA&SD is Aramco’s laboratory service provider, and aspires to be the service of choice. Our Materials & Corrosion Services Division is a well-established team with international recognition, and provides services in materials, corrosion, scaling, and microbial to maintain Aramco’s reliability.
Your primary role is to play a key role in sustaining Aramco as a reliable global energy supplier, and you will be a driving force in building capabilities in laboratory qualification of advanced materials, including carbon-based and nanocomposite. Additionally, you will collaborate with external stakeholders and identify new applications in corrosion control and mitigation in the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Develop Aramco’s capability to qualify and test advanced carbon-based, nanotechnology, and other emerging sustainable materials related to corrosion control and mitigation in order to advance their development.
- Lead and deploy new technologies related to new materials in order to enhance Aramco’s field operations.
- Identify new laboratory requirements and detailed specifications of the equipment, tools and materials needed to expand current capabilities.
- Work as part of multi-disciplinary team, providing advice on laboratory experimental techniques, materials selection, and damage mechanisms that might reflect in the Company Engineering Standards, Best Practices, or Analytical methods.
- Establish and manage collaborations with key internal and external stakeholders in order to accelerate the achievement of goals and maximize the impact of the research programs.
- Contribute to RA&SD’s intellectual capital by submitting journal publications, patents, and technical reports.
Minimum Requirements
- As the successful candidate you will hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering.
- You will have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in oil and gas related to advanced materials.
- You must have a proven track record of work experience in research or industrial environments in carrying out original advanced materials studies, developing and deploying new techniques and technologies.
- You should be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge and hands-on experience in materials science with particular emphasis on emerging and sustainable materials, carbon-based materials, and nanotechnology related to materials sustainability, and corrosion control and mitigation in oil and gas industry.
- You must be able to demonstrate knowledge on syntheses, properties, and applications of advanced materials in corrosion control and mitigation in oil and gas industry.
- Contributions to the scientific domain, as demonstrated by publishing journal papers, patents, and active membership in professional societies are preferred.
- Willingness and ability to relocate to Saudi Arabia on a full-time, permanent basis.
