Overview
We are seeking an experienced Piping and Valves Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence Team under Reliability Solutions Department (RSD).
RSD is a multi-disciplinary organization that provides engineering support to Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing wholly owned and affiliates’ facilities (Refining, NGL Processing, and Petrochemicals). This includes reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static equipment, rotating equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control support.
Your primary role as a piping & valves engineer is to provide technical support to operating facilities, projects, and the deployment of new technologies pertaining to piping and valves. You will also conduct technical studies and analyses for piping & valves including stress analysis, hydrotest pressure calculations, rating & de-rating, fitness for service, flange calculations and nozzle/branch calculations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct simple and complex analyses related to the design, specification and applications engineering tasks associated with Piping & Valves.
- Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer Piping & Valves packages suitable for design needs for reliable, cost-effective, and efficient operation.
- Perform investigations of Piping & Valves failures to identify root cause(s) and to prevent reoccurrence of such failures.
- Participate in HAZOP Studies review.
- Provide engineering support to repair hydrocarbon leaks, review and approve the bolted clamp calculations and design made by the specialized leak sealing contractor's companies to maintenance prior to field installation.
- Perform piping mechanical calculations like minimum wall thickness for internal and external pressure, branch reinforcement calculations, Maximum Allowable Work Pressure (MAWP) calculations as per ASME B31.3, hydrotest pressure, rating and/or de-rating of piping circuits by following API 570, fitness for service to evaluate flaws or damage and determine if the piece of pipe is suitable for continuous operation by using API 579, perform pipe stress analysis using Caesar II, perform flange calculations as per ASME VIII Div 1 App 2 using PVElite, perform nozzle calculations using WRC-107 and WRC-297 modeling the analysis in Caesar II or PVElite.
- Perform Hot Taps calculations by using Aramco standards and API2201.
- Provide guidance for On-steam inspection and CML optimization.
- Develop EWRs by preparing detailed design packages including scope of work, assembly/erection procedures, welding procedures, Non-Destructive Testing NDT requirements, material list and sketches/drawings.
Minimum Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, an advanced degree is preferable.
- Minimum of fifteen years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry’s downstream sector, with a minimum of 10 years working with piping &valves
- Thorough knowledge of best engineering practices, solid industry codes and standards background (ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ISO) and use of engineering software.
- Significant experience in use of piping stress analysis software (e.g. CAESER II).
- Knowledge of basic and advanced NDE techniques related to Piping & Valves.
- Deep understanding of fitness for service calculation per API 579
- Significant experience in inspection and failure analysis of Piping & Valves.
- The candidate must be fluent in English (both spoken and written).
- Experience is piping vibration analysis is highly desirable.
- Experience dealing with cement lined, rubber lined and non-metallic piping.
