Status : Seasonal Hourly (Non-exempt)
Join our team and work hands-on with state-of-the-art snow cats and equipment to keep A-Basin open from October through June. You'll operate snowcats, maintain equipment, and follow nightly grooming plans to create the best possible conditions for skiers and riders. With a focus on safety, sustainability, and teamwork, you'll play a key role in shaping the mountain experience while learning the ins and outs of our trail network and grooming methods.
A-Basin Slope Groomers are eligible for a staging program based on experience, which relates to applicable pay. See staging requirements and related skills below.

Essential Responsibilities :
Nightly grooming and maintenance of ski trails and slopes as directed by Leads / ManagerLearn and stay up to date on A-Basin's grooming methods and trail networkAdhere to all safety rules and regulationsCheck the grooming list for nightly areas of concernResponsible for startup and shut down of equipment dailyPerform preoperational checks for leaks, wear, and other potential damage to vehiclesRefuel and deice snowcat at the end of the shiftMonitor gauges of machines and fill out maintenance log books nightlyReport adverse conditions or problems as appropriate to the supervisor and / or mechanicsAssist mechanics or coworkers with minor repairs of equipmentEffectively communicate with other employees and departments in person and via radioAssist with food and beverage bin deliveries and trash haulingFollows all department sustainability and safety guidelines.Perform other duties as assignedRequirements
Education Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalentExperience Requirements :
One year of experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, snowcats, and winch catsKnowledge of Arapahoe Basin trail systems preferredSkills Required :
Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of operating heavy equipmentAbility to maintain a high level of safety consciousnessAbility to work with others and in a team environmentPhysical Requirements : (with or without reasonable accommodation)

This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. This role may work outdoors without shelter for up to 10 hours. Additionally, it will consistently operate or work around noisy machinery. Riding a chairlift is required for this role.Slopes Maintenance Staging Program : Slopes Maintenance - Groomer I - See above for essential responsibilities and requirements.
Slopes Maintenance - Groomer II - Starting Rate : $22.00 / hr Fulfill all Groomer I responsibilities and requirements in addition to the following :
Proficient knowledge of A-Basin's trail networkAbility to perform snow-pushing projects as directedBeginner's understanding of A-Basin's winching methods and trail networkGroom-specific areas for events, races, etc.Use a grooming map to work independently for periods of timeSlopes Maintenance - Groomer III - Starting Rate : $23.50 / hr Fulfill all Groomer I-II responsibilities and requirements in addition to the following :
Work with Groomer Leads to develop nightly grooming assignmentsWork on opening new terrain in the early season with direction from the ManagerWork on terrain consolidation and drainage in late seasonProficient winching ability, including in the Beavers and Montezuma BowlIndependently identify and execute snow-pushing projects
