Job Summary
The Disability Access Technologist will effectively support students with disabilities, ensure legal compliance, and foster an inclusive environment here at ACC. This position will collaborate with DAS Specialists and help assess which assistive technology are appropriate, what barriers exist for students with disabilities inside the classroom and online, and be a strategist in finding new and innovative ways for students with disabilities to succeed inside and outside of the classroom. Some of the responsibilities of this role include :
- Serve as the subject matter expert on assistive technology for the College.
- Establish and lead a support team for each assigned student, ensuring proper reception and incorporation of accommodations.
- Design and facilitate training sessions, in one-to-one and group environments, for students, staff, faculty, and other stakeholders on assistive technologies, instructional technology, and other adaptive equipment.
- Oversee all technology-related accommodations for students including alternative text usage, screen reader and text-to-speech software(s), physical hardware and other ancillary assistive technology.
- Promote access to programs, facilities, and support services to ensure students with disabilities are able to fully participate in their education.
