Compensation: $85,000- $90,000/ Yearly, Depending on experience

ARB Underground is seeking a Traffic Control Manager to support our job locations in Fairfield, CA.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Manage traffic control personnel/equipment resources; to include involvement with hiring, termination, disciplinary action (as required) to support project and schedule needs for job locations in Fairfield, CA and Pittsburg, CA. 
  • Plan, organize, oversee, coordinate, and review the work of staff performing traffic control measures in field.
  • Ensure compliance with concepts, techniques, and implementation of traffic control plans and techniques for installation, implementation, and removal.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications and implement them in the field.
  • Work together as a team and to present solutions.
  • Ensure traffic control measures are designed and implemented in the field to make the project as safe as possible for fellow workers, motorists, pedestrians, and general public going through the site.
  • Oversee flaggers to ensure DOT/regulatory requirements are met.
  • On-call during non-working hours for notification regarding a site deficiency or incident
  • Manage all traffic control staff on site
  • Complete all required monthly, weekly and daily reports
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities at the site level to promote safety and assist to resolve any issues of non-compliance
  • Manage and maintain traffic control personnel training and qualifications 
  • Maintaining/developing training for new and existing traffic control team members.
  • Review and set up training to maintain OQs for new and existing employees and will also need to take all the necessary ATSSA training courses to become an ATSSA instructor for ARB.
  • Perform onsite quality inspections of the crew’s performance and equipment.
  • Schedule / dispatch crews and equipment to job sites.
  • Decipher traffic control plans and verify that the plans are being setup correctly as per the approved plan and within the City standers / MUTCD.
  • Review and provide input on the accuracy of time sheets of the employees and the equipment used on each job site and crew. 
  • Discuss with the crews on their driving scores and habits to ensure that they are at or above 95 and report any safety violations, accidents or any other issues to the Department Manager.
  • Will be required to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, and to be on call during non-working hours for notification regarding a site deficiency or incident.
  • Will participate in regular daily, weekly, and/or monthly meetings with crews.
  • Provide assistance on pre-construction job walks with the Clients and Inspectors to ensure how the safety of the public and ARBs employees will be maintained with the proper traffic control setups.
  • Assistance with generation and distribution of Daily Route Sheets for Civil/Traffic Control resources.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record 
  • Previous experience in traffic control or construction environment desired
  • 3 years of experience in traffic control plan and design is highly preferred.
  • Traffic control supervisory Training exp.
  • Traffic Control Crew Dispatch exp. 
  • Time Card Review and Approval
  • Incident Investigation
  • Communication with the Project Teams
  • Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to be effective and efficient
  • Must be comfortable and effective working in an environment with changing demands, delays and responding to unexpected situations
  • Proficient user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; ability to maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with all customers (internal/external)
  • The TCM will support the locations of our operations in Fairfield, CA. Shifts and travel may vary according to project demands.

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to lift and/ or move 50 pounds or more on a daily and continual basis.
  • Must be dependable and be able to perform physically demanding work in the elements. 
  • Ability to drive on a stop and start basis daily and continually.
  • Lifting, placing of materials, standing, walking, turning, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, crouching, speaking and hearing are required continuously.
  • Close vision is required for some functions and distance and peripheral vision is required for safety.

Our company is a drug-free environment. This position requires compliance with the company and Federal Department of Transportation (FMSCA or PHMSA) drug testing policies and procedures for both pre-employment and continuing random.
