What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Optical Engineer position at Arbigen?
Introduction to Arbigen
At Arbigen Inc., we are pioneering software solutions that bridge traditional and emerging computing technologies. We focus on post-digital paradigms: quantum, photonic, thermodynamic, stochastic, and neuromorphic computing systems, among others. Each of these computing paradigms excels in specific applications, outperforming conventional digital systems. To unite these diverse technologies, we are developing novel optical middleware to bridge communication interfaces between computing modalities.
Modern data centers have a powerful but underutilized resource: optical networks. These high-bandwidth fiber optic systems are being enhanced by the emerging silicon photonic revolution, which brings new interconnects and programmable photonic devices that enable unprecedented control over light-based communication. Through our specialized middleware, we enable seamless integration between traditional computing systems and next-generation architectures. This is particularly important as data centers continue to embrace heterogeneity and disegregrated optical architectures across diverse accelerators.
Data engineering practices need to evolve for emerging compute platforms. Current frameworks have yet to provide unified support across conventional and post-digital computing modalities. We are developing commercial middleware solutions for enterprise integration while simultaneously creating an open-source research platform focused on hybrid data engineering bridging theory and practice. With this strategy, Arbigen Inc. will be the pioneer in multi-modal software solutions for unifying emerging non-digital electronic accelerators.
