What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analyst position at Arbitrage Compliance Specialists?
ACS is seeking a new team member to perform arbitrage rebate tax-exempt bond calculations for municipalities. Our calculations are unique, so we do not expect to find an experienced arbitrage rebate accountant.
What we are seeking is a person with a dynamic personality and a critical thinking background. As this is a numbers gig, preference will be given to those with at least 4 years of work experience in an accounting or finance field. A CPA license would be a plus. NOTE: You are encouraged to apply even if accounting/finance wasn't your first career choice.
Compensation starts between $60,000 and $67,000 per year dependent on your specific credentials. You'll have the option for a 10% step-up in pay after 6 months if you display competency within our niche area of the IRS tax code.
We typically work 45-hour workweeks. We would like this new team member to be a quick learner with an attention to detail. Ideally, you'll move into a supervisory position once your skills have been developed.
Tasks Include:
· Analyze tax-exempt bond documentation to extract specific rules, dates, and tax-exempt bond proceeds amounts that are required to be accounted for within the calculation;
· Enter investments into our proprietary software program to determine if the governmental entity owes a payment to the IRS.
· Apply accounting methodologies such as First In First Out, Last In First Out, Ratable or Specific Tracing to account for expenditures;
· Communicate with governmental entities (Cities, Towns, School Districts, Universities, etc.) on any questions that you may have on the provided investment records; and
· Determine penalty interest amounts due to the IRS for late payments.
