Education Requirements per State of Michigan Child Welfare Standards

- Other Degrees from an accredited institution that may qualify include: Psychology, Counseling and guidance, Child Development, Criminal Justice, Family and Child ecology, Sociology, Family Community Services, Family Studies and Family Life Education

Position Details
Provide quality child and family centered services that facilitate the healthy development of children and family stability thru the licensing of Foster Homes. This position will provide services to the Arbor Circle's current licensed foster homes, as well recruit, assess, and license new foster homes that include but are not limited to:
- Complete assessments, regular visits and all required activities related to establishing new foster homes, renewing foster home licenses and as changes in the foster home occur.
- Conduct, monitor and review special investigations of licensed foster homes, and provide appropriate recommendations and corrective action plans,
- Create and implement effective plans to recruit and retain foster families, including presentations, attending events in the community, newsletters, special events, awards, gifts of appreciation and support groups.
- Schedule and provide orientation and training for prospective and current foster parents at times convenient for families, including evenings and weekends.
- Documentation of activities per State of Michigan licensing standards.
- Provide emergency, on-call interventions after hours and on holidays, as required.
Services are provided in homes and in the community to assess and assist families wishing to become Foster Parents and to maintain ongoing approval of current foster homes. Positive outcomes are achieved through purposeful and respectful relationships rooted in trauma informed care, hope and evidence-based research and licensing requirements.

While the city / county listed in this posting will be the primary office location for this position the Foster Home Licensor will hold a blended case load that includes cases in both Muskegon and Ottawa Counties.
Position Requirements
- BSW or other qualified related Bachelors’ degree per State of Michigan Child Welfare Standards
- Prior experience working with children and families,
- Prior experience with community-based work
- Knowledge of / experience in Muskegon and Ottawa County required.
- Current Driver's License, Clean Driving records and current Auto insurance
- Previous foster care/child welfare experience, including CWTI training strongly preferred.
- Michigan Child Welfare Certificate a plus!
