Job Summary:
The Histology Technician will perform various techniques on patient tissue specimens for microscope examination and analysis by a pathologist.
Hours:
• Monday – Friday, (6:00a – 2:30p)
• Monday – Friday, (4:00a – 12:30p)
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting, and
maintaining records of patient test results.
• Perform embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques of patient samples.
• If qualified under CLIA regulations, the employee may perform grossing, as needed.
• Accession surgical specimens, as needed.
• Maintain proficiency and competency in performance for the testing menu of the department.
• Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
• Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problem or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specification.
• Participate in regulatory agency inspection readiness and onsite inspections.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Minimum one year experience working as a Histology Technician
Physical Requirements:
• employee is regularly required to talk or hear
• employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
• employee is occasionally required to lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
TRAVEL AND HOURS
• This position is full-time
• No travel is required with this position
