Position Overview The Arborist is a field-focused role that combines hands-on arboricultural expertise with business development responsibilities to establish and grow ArborActive's presence in an assigned territory. As a key member of our small but growing team, this position requires both technical tree care proficiency and the ability to build client relationships while actively participating in service delivery. The role offers unique opportunities to shape our expansion and contribute directly to the company's development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations in new territories, personally performing and supervising tree care services to establish service quality standards
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments to evaluate tree and landscape health.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including direct participation in plant health care applications and pruning operations
- Execute territory expansion strategies through demonstration of technical expertise and hands-on problem-solving during client interactions
- Generate detailed proposals based on personal field observations and technical requirements
- Train and mentor field staff in proper arboricultural techniques and safety protocols
- Document and track project progress, including before/after documentation and treatment records
- Stay current with field techniques and new treatment technologies through hands-on training and practical application
- Collaborate closely with the core team to develop and refine operational procedures as we grow
- Help shape company culture and operational standards during our expansion phase
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as one of the following: ISA Certified Arborist, MA Shade Tree and Ornamentals Commercial Certification, Massachusetts Certified Arborist, CT Arborist, Forester.
- Minimum 1 years of hands-on tree care experience, may include climbing and plant health care applications
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Demonstrated proficiency in pruning and plant health care.
- Strong knowledge of tree and shrub species identification and biology
- Experience operating and maintaining arboricultural equipment
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to clients
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing field operations and crews
- Proficiency with industry-standard equipment and tools
- Experience with project estimation based on field conditions
- Pesticide applicator or supervisors license
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb trees or work off a ladder to prune
- Capable of operating power equipment and hand tools safely
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Stamina to work full days in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the territory
