POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Auditor will be responsible for ensuring that all inflators meet the stringent quality standards required for automotive safety components. You will conduct inspections, audits, and tests to verify that manufacturing processes and products comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and customer requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or auditing within the automotive industry, preferably with experience in airbag inflator systems or similar safety-critical components.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations (FMVSS, ISO/TS 16949, IATF 16949).
- Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis techniques.
- Must have good analytical problem-solving skills. Must have thorough knowledge in the use of all standard measuring instruments and basic mathematics. Preferably - Lead Auditor Certifications in IATF 16949 or VDA6.3.
- Experience with automotive manufacturing, especially in safety critical components.
- Strong analytical skills to identify issues and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Ability to find root causes of quality problems and work with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare audit reports and interact with management teams.

- Understand how to read and know the specific requirements – technically, verbally, and testing
- AIAG Core Tools – APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, CPLAN, PFMEA
- AIAG Special Process Assessments – Welding, Heat Treatment, Coatings, Etc.
- ISO19011 Guideline for Auditing Management Systems
- Database or other quality management systems (QMS) to track compliance and quality metrics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process & Supplier Audits: Conduct audits of production processes and supplier quality systems to ensure compliance with standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 17025, and AIAG Special Process Assessments (welding, heat treatment, coatings, etc.).
- Test Verification & Compliance: Review and validate safety feature effectiveness to ensure compliance with international regulations (USCAR, AKLV, FMVSS, DOT Regulations, ATF requirements).
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to product design, manufacturing, or testing and recommend corrective actions (DFMEA, PFMEA, DV/PV testing, Lesson Learned, Read Across).
- Corrective Actions & Continuous Improvement: Identify non-conformances, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA, 8D, 5 Why, 5Ps), and validate their effectiveness. Make recommendations on how to improve systems, processes, or documentation.
- Documentation & SOPs: Maintain audit reports, compliance records, and non-conformance reports while contributing to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for quality assurance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers, engineers, and production teams to uphold quality and safety standards.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Up to 75% of travel is required, including both domestic and international locations.
- Travel may be frequent and extended based on business needs.
- A valid passport and ability to obtain necessary travel visas are required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work will take place in a combination office/shop environment. Employees may be required to work weekends, holidays, and be on-call on occasion. While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to mechanical or chemical processes requiring the use of personnel protective equipment.
