Gas boats dominate today’s marine industry not because of great product offerings but because of a lack of better alternatives. Boaters have grown accustomed to vehicles that feel stuck in the 1980s: unreliable, expensive, loud, noxious, and a nightmare to own and operate. They’re also awful for the water and air they reside in.

By contrast, electric boats are superior in nearly every way: not only are they far more reliable and less costly to operate, but they’re also quieter, quicker, and cleaner, with no fumes or pollutants. However, they’ve been held back by both the technology and the talent to make them truly competitive with gas alternatives. That’s Arc’s opportunity.

Using modern, aerospace- and automotive-inspired techniques, we’re building our hulls, batteries, cooling systems, firmware, and software together to deliver the next generation of watercraft.

What We’re Looking For

As a full-time member of our Production team, you will work from our manufacturing facility in Torrance, CA. This role focuses on testing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems while also contributing to process improvements and various production projects.

As a startup, we move fast. You’ll need to be adaptable, but the following responsibilities and qualifications will remain relatively constant.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle and subassembly-level acceptance testing protocol (ATP) on production hardware.
• Follow test procedures and maintain proper documentation before, during, and after testing.
• Lead test readiness reviews as well as post-test reviews following all boat outings.
• Support troubleshooting, triaging, and reworking issues identified during testing.
• Assist the production integration team with vehicle build and commissioning at the end of the line.
• Work with Production and Engineering teams to iterate and improve testing processes to increase production velocity and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

• Proficiency in using mechanical and electric hand tools.
• Knowledge of proper PPE use and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Experience setting up and utilizing test equipment such as digital multimeters, HIPOT machines, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
• Extensive experience building and troubleshooting electromechanical systems, including electric motors, batteries, sensors, electronics, controls, pneumatics, etc.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, electrical schematics, and product data sheets.
• Self-sufficient with a proactive mindset—able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to stand for 6–10 hours per day and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Experience with boat trailering, launching, recovery, and operation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Bonus Qualifications

• Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Comfortable maintaining a fast but sustainable work pace.
• Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy.
