Our Behavioral Intervention Specialists provide services to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities living and working in various settings throughout Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties. Provides support to staff and functions as an interdisciplinary clinical team member.

WHAT IS ARC GLOW?
We are a parent and family driven organization that empowers and supports people of all ages with a broad spectrum of emotional, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our residential locations cover the four counties in the GLOW region, providing supports and services to over 150 people.
WHO DOES THE ARC GLOW SUPPORT?

WHAT WOULD I BE DOING?
- Conducts functional behavioral assessment, including but not limited to gathering data and information on individual and their environment, interviewing staff, and using data to form hypothesis on motivating factors for challenging behaviors.
- Develops individualized goals, objectives, and methods to address behavioral problems.
- Develops methods to address new challenging behaviors or to strengthen existing skills.
- Writes Behavior Supports Plans, which may or may not include rights limitations, and Behavior Monitoring Plans as needed, in accordance with all applicable regulations.
- Provides support directly to the individuals served through one on one sessions focused on debriefing of challenging episodes, skill building related to coping skills and preferred behaviors, and support of emotionally challenging experiences.
- Provides consultation and training to program staff, interdisciplinary team and family members as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST:
· Master’s degree required in psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions, and documented training in
assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or
Ø a national board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) or a NYS license as a
Behavior Analyst (LBA); or
Ø a New York State license in mental health counseling; and
have at least three years of experience:
Ø working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the
development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans; and/or
Ø providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior
support plans; or
Ø have been employed as a Level 2 BIS, at the master’s degree level, for three
years
- A valid NYS driver's license with an acceptable driving record, per agency policy, and reliable transportation to and from work is required.
