The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background with technical expertise in data management, Power BI, and Power Automate, along with advanced Excel skills. Position Summary :
The Senior Staff Accountant oversees Accounts Receivable accounting transactions for multi-billion-dollar annual activity within this Fortune 500 company. This role involves supervising and coordinating staff engaged in analyzing, validating, and processing transactions, including electronic credit card disputes, outstanding receivables, casino promissory notes and exposure, banking information databases, electronic workflows, and system interfaces. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate financial data recording, preparing monthly reports and reconciliations, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. This position requires collaboration with operating and financial teams, IT, auditors, external vendors, revenue partners, and accounting management.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and coordinate the work of staff to ensure compliance with SOX internal controls, accounting policies, and departmental objectives.
- Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to maintain accurate financial records.
- Analyze the impact of exchange rates, tax implications, and country-specific regulations on accounting transactions.
- Identify potential internal control issues and collaborate with Audit and Advisory Services and external auditors for timely resolution.
- Assist management in analyzing and identifying significant year-over-year and month-over-month financial variances.
- Prepare and review monthly / quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and schedules, ensuring prompt resolution of outstanding items.
- Support management by generating financial schedules, SOX documentation, and audit-related reports.
- Lead special projects such as system upgrades, banking portal integrations, workflow system enhancements, and multiple system interfaces with JDE.
- Ensure the timely and efficient completion of special projects, directing the project team as needed.
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on financial systems, ensuring accounting and reporting requirements are met.
- Assist management in hiring, evaluating performance, and conducting performance reviews for direct reports.
- Serve as a liaison with auditors and IT to address system-related accounting concerns.
- Identify and resolve system-related issues, communicating findings to the department analyst.
- Maintain a systematic record retention system in compliance with company policies.
- Clearly communicate service, process, and system-related issues to management.
- Create and maintain statistical reports to track production volume and trends.
- Maintain department service level standards, proposing and implementing process improvements as needed.
- Develop and deliver staff training programs for both domestic and international business units.
