SUMMARY:
Under general direction, perform varied assignments following established procedures requiring judgment and decision-making where errors may cause confusion and delay. Contract locations to include: GSA EPOE 1699 Carr Rd., Calexico, CA; GSAWPOE 340 1st St, Calexico, CA; EC Sector 211 Aten Rd., Imperial, CA; EC Station 221 Aten Rd., Imperial, CA; 111 N. Imperial Ave., El Centro; 1085 N. Imperial Ave., El Centro, CA; 1150 E. Birch St., Calexico, CA; Hwy 86 Checkpoint, Bombay Beach, CA; Hwy 111 Checkpoint, Niland, CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide general direction and supervision of assigned consumers of the janitorial crew, ensuring that all contract requirements, quality control and rehabilitation needs of the consumers are met. Duties are to include:
- All room and corridor space floor and carpet surfaces shall be free of obvious dirt, dust and other debris through sweeping, mopping or vacuuming.
- Ensure office glass surfaces are clean and free of dirt, dust, streaks, water mark spots and grime and shall not be cloudy.
- All work surfaces shall be thoroughly dusted including comers, crevices, moldings and ledges.
- Empty waste receptacles and service dispensers, police rooms and clean wash basins as traffic demands.
- Clean and service toilet rooms as per cleaning work and quality requirements of contract scope of work.
- Maintain and clean janitorial equipment daily.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and maintain proper supply and flow of job materials to job stations. Is responsible for ensuring that all cleaning supplies adequate to meet job needs. Ensure equipment is maintained in good working order and supplies are inventoried.
- Will participate and attend agency meetings, including in-service and training meetings.
- Promote a better, more cooperative working atmosphere by maintaining a safe, hazard free work environment, adhering to CAL-OSHA and ADA requirements.
- Shall maintain as harmonious, pleasant and positive work environment as possible by following established standards for desirable conduct, including but not limited to discrimination, sexual harassment and chemical/substance abuse.
- Follows personnel policies closely. Fosters cooperative staff relationships and effective teamwork.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak of work periods or otherwise to balance the work load, as assigned by the Janitorial Supervisor, Off-Site Contract Supervisor, or Quality Assurance Inspector.
ASSIGNED AREAS:
As assigned by the Janitorial Supervisor and under the direction and supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Technician, will assist and perform job assignments in the following areas:
- Cuts grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 pounds).
- Trims hedges and edges around walks, flower beds, and wells using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools.
- Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth.
- Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer.
- Plants, cultivates, aerates, and dethatches grass, plants, flowers, trees and shrubs.
- Irrigates lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinklers system. Repairs broken irrigation equipment as needed.
- Ensures all roads, driveways and walkways are kept free and clean of debris.
- Cleans and maintains lawn maintenance equipment daily.
- This will include the proper clean up and off-site disposal of all clippings, pruning, etc. generated in this process. ·
Will assist the window cleaning professional:
- Cleaning windows, glass partitions, mirrors and other glass surfaces of building interior or exterior, using pail of contract specified cleaning solution, sponge and squeegee.
- On occasion, sets and climbs ladder or scaffolding stands to reach first, second and third floor windows.
- Performs floor cleaning projects in accordance with the contract specifications, using cleaning equipment including automatic floor machines, wet mops, and large wringers, Scrubs and buffs floors with high speed scrubbers and furnishers. Posts "wet floor'' signs.
- Shall maintain daily objective data on objectives of consumer workers, continuous reinforcement of work habits and attitudes and instruction of duties to be performed. Provide input for quarterly progress notes. Ensures documentation is submitted to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Provides avenues for consumer input to direct vocational goals.
- Inspect systematically for quality as well as instruct and enforce safety rules; and safe care and use of equipment and tools. Will report and investigate all injuries to his/her immediate supervisor.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Minimum of 3-year US residency.
- Valid California Driver's License; clean driving record (OMV Report) annually thereafter if hired.
- Ability to speak, read and write English; bi-lingual preferred.
- Experience working with developmentally disabled persons.
- Ability to train and supervise consumers in a variety of off-site community work settings
