Summary/Objective:
An Employment Support Professional (ESP) supports individuals with disabilities as they prepare for, obtain, and retain community employment. ESPs have a desire to create lasting positive impacts on people's lives and enjoy coaching, mentoring, training, and encouraging others to celebrate meeting their goals on their path to community employment.
Responsibilities and work schedules vary depending on assignment. Most assignments require first-shift hours, but occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary to meet the needs of persons served. The use of a personal vehicle is required to provide community-based services to persons served.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:

General:
- Uphold the rights and dignity of all persons served while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
- Ensure service delivery complies with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Ensure documentation and reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner per federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Follow all governing bodies' communication guidelines in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain the department's billable hours requirement.
- Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with community business partners.
- Continually assess work environments and report health and safety hazards as needed.
- Participate in all required meetings and staff training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Vocational Habilitation:
- Provide job coaching at various community businesses to develop work trainees' hard and soft skills.
- Lead classroom-style learning sessions on employment-related topics.
- Facilitate the exploration of employment opportunities in the local job market for work trainees.
- Provide assistance and supervision to work trainees as stated in their service plan.
- Provide input for work trainees’ service plans based on observation of employable skills and barriers.
- Provide transportation to base locations and worksites using company vehicles as assigned.
Case Management:
- Provide employment-related case management and career counseling.
- Implement various employment-related services to assist the person served in reaching their goals.
- Complete assessments outlining persons served employable skills and abilities to assist in identifying well-match employment opportunities.
- Provide support and assistance with resume writing, interview preparation, soft skills development, etc.
- Provide onsite job coaching and task analysis to assist persons served learn job tasks and retain employment.
- Develop a network of employer contacts through cold calls, in-person meetings, hiring events, etc.
- Educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain a current understanding of the local job market and businesses' hiring needs.
