Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 / year
Reporting to the CAD Manager, the CAD drafter/ engineer is responsible for the drawings and documentation for both commercial and industrial refrigeration mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Creation and file management of Engineering drawings and specifications.
- Provide on-site engineering support of installation for industrial ammonia/central refrigeration and commercial split systems. Will also provide HVAC system design for commercial and industrial applications.
- Create submittal drawings for vendor purchased equipment for compliance with design intent and/or contract documents.
- Create engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications, scope of work and standards specified by each project/client.
- Produce 2D and 3D CAD/BIM drawings and document sets from sketches, existing drawings, equipment shop drawings, standard details and site visits for refrigeration, HVAC, piping and controls systems to be estimated, installed and/or fabricated.
- Perform layout and dimensioning of equipment locations, pipe and ductwork routing, and support systems to eliminate interferences with other components, existing systems or other building elements, accommodate servicing requirement, and maximize system installation efficiency.
- Produce accurate 'As-Built' drawings from field mark-ups upon completion of a construction project. Perform a drafting checking function of drawings created by other CAD /Engineering personnel.
- Perform system calculations which include but not limited to: Ammonia relief vent systems and Ammonia charge calculations, etc. Training will be provided.
- Create and develop P&ID's, flow diagrams, plans and specifications for refrigeration systems.
- Work closely with company resources to assure projects are meeting technical and quality requirements.
- BS Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline a plus, not required.
- Minimum requirement of work history in one or more of the following disciplines: equipment design, manufacturing, architecture and mechanical systems.
- Mastery in drafting/design programs, AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc).
- Ability to create, revise, and interpret construction drawings and P&ID's.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of building materials, and engineering document control standards.
- Ability to work closely with others on a team as well as independently.
- Capability of maintaining a high energy level to handle a dynamic, fast-paced workload.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in evaluating situations.
- Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities, projects and deadlines.
- Self-motivation and willingness to learn and embrace new ideas and technologies.
- Ability to visit job sites, including some climbing and crawling.
