Summary
As a Part-Time Direct Support Professional at The Arc/Morris County Chapter, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position is essential in promoting independence and inclusion within the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various settings.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to appropriate personnel.
- Implement individualized support plans to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
- Engage clients in social, recreational, and community activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and providing first aid as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and incidents as required.
- Collaborate with team members to create a supportive atmosphere that fosters inclusion.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in health or social services is a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CPR, first aid, and medication administration protocols.
- Ability to perform basic health assessments such as monitoring vital signs.
- Compassionate attitude towards individuals with disabilities and commitment to their well-being.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to lift clients safely as required by the role.
- Experience in home community care is beneficial but not mandatory.
