About the Position
As a Customer Service Clerk/Receiver at The Arc Butte County, you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service, assisting with donation intake, and supporting the daily operations of our retail store. You will work in a dynamic environment, ensuring a positive experience for both donors and customers while supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a full-time or part-time, non-exempt position, where you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to our mission and make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people we serve.
What You'll Do:
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers, answering questions, and running the cash register.
- Receive and sort all donated items, including boxes, bags, and furniture, ensuring items are properly priced and stocked on the sales floor.
- Research, price, and stock merchandise, ensuring the store is well-organized and presentable at all times.
- Work with individuals served by The Arc, providing positive guidance and assisting them in their roles at the store.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in both the store and warehouse. Perform opening and closing duties.
- Help with community donation pick-ups, ensuring timely and efficient collection of goods.
- Follow all established agency policies and procedures as outlined in The Arc Employee Handbook, the Arc Illness and Injury Prevention Program, and the Code of Safe Practices.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to support the store and community operations.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience in customer service or retail.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or a willingness to learn and demonstrate sensitivity to their needs.
- Good verbal communication skills and a neat, professional appearance.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to maintain a positive, patient, and friendly attitude, especially under pressure.
- Willingness to work at least one weekend day and flexible shifts during the week.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in outdoor temperatures and elements for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to stand for long periods (at least 6 hours per day) and perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, and moving items up to 50 lbs or more.
- Reliable transportation.
