Job Description
SUMMARY: Assists the Classroom Teacher in the daily classroom educational program, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Carries out all classroom assignments as directed by the Classroom Teacher.
•Participates in the Individual Education Program process for students assigned to the class.
•Works with students individually and in groups as assigned.
•Cleans, grooms, feeds and toilets assigned students.
•Assists the Classroom Teacher in overseeing the cleanliness, safety and orderliness of the classroom at all times.
•Maintains classroom and other program equipment in safe operating condition.
•Supervises student’s behavior and mobility.
•Protects students from injury, accident, harm or unnecessary discomfort or illness.
•Reports and records all unusual events involving a student’s safety, training, and general development.
•Maintains good public relations with family members and other visitors.
•Implements assigned duties for receiving and placing students on transportation.
•Attends workshops in addition to regularly scheduled school hours.
•Periodically works irregular hours, as assigned.
•Performs any other responsibilities which are assigned by supervisors.
Scheduled hours :
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am – 3:30 pm
Thursday 8:00am-3:30pm
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some experience working with developmentally disabled and/or special needs children preferred.
