What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Driver position at ARC of the Treasure Coast?
Position Summary: Responsible for the safe, direct transport of ambulatory and non-ambulatory passengers in accordance with the ARC and FDOT guidelines.
Supervision: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Supports
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures passenger safety for all aspects of transportation
- Assists all passengers with all on and off loading and treats all passengers courteously and professionally and in accordance with all safety regulations
- Ensures that the correct passengers have been transported and off loaded
- Maintains frequent communication with dispatcher regarding all aspects of the transports
- Maintains clean vehicles and ensures their mechanical safety
- Responsible for enforcing the required No Smoking and No Eating on Board policies
- Operates the vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations
- Responsible for reporting mileage on Trip Logs
- Maintains the confidentiality of any and all information related to passengers, in compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
- Must maintain any required licenses, permits, certificates, and registrations required by state or federal laws
- Must call 911 immediately if a passenger feels there is a need for emergency medical assistance
- Responsible for allowing only qualified passengers in the vehicle and no animals except with prior authorization
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Developmental and medical disabilities
- DOT driving regulations
- Safety regulations for loading and unloading passengers
Ability to:
- Work under pressure and with interruptions and challenging deadlines
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Engage active listening skills with all employees and individuals
Education and Experience
Minimum Criteria:
- High School Diploma or GED
Special Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license; CDL license a plus
- Clear driving record
- Proof of automobile insurance
- Level II background screening
- CPR certification
- PCM (Professional Crisis Management) training preferred
- First Aid training
- Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV training
- Zero Tolerance training
- Core Competency training
- Health and Safety training
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Sitting, talking, hearing, seeing. Driving, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, feeling, reaching, lifting, grasping, twisting above the waist, bending at the waist, repetitive hand and arm motion, and fine finger manipulation in the use of a computer. Climbing ladders, entering crawl spaces, exertion of force, manipulation of hand and/or foot controls. Lifting and or moving up to 50 lbs.
