The Role

AI is at a critical inflection point - it needs secure, reliable ways to interact with real-world systems. That's where you come in. As Head of Engineering at Arcade, you'll lead our team (6 engineers, growing to 9-10) in building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of AI applications.

You'll have the chance to :

Lead a world-class engineering team solving cutting-edge AI challenges

Partner with founders who've built successful developer platforms

Define a new category in the AI ecosystem

With our modern tech stack (Go, Python, Kubernetes), you'll build the connective tissue that brings AI into the real world. This is your opportunity to be at the center of AI's transformation from promising technology to practical tool.

This is an in-office position in South San Francisco.

What You'll Do

Team Leadership & Growth

Lead and scale an engineering team of 6, growing to 9-10, with potential for further expansion

Mentor engineers to develop their skills and foster a cohesive team environment

Build a proactive recruiting pipeline to attract top engineering talent

Strategic Collaboration

Partner with CEO and CTO to transform strategic product vision into actionable engineering initiatives

Drive prioritization and scope of projects, ensuring alignment between product and engineering

Make key technical decisions that shape our platform's architecture

Operational Excellence

Own project management and ensure engineering efforts align with company goals

Optimize internal processes to help the team execute with speed and focus

Remove roadblocks and reduce overhead so engineers can do their best work

Culture & Leadership

Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning

Lead by example, balancing deep technical knowledge with operational excellence

Create an inclusive environment where team members feel heard and valued

Required Skills

Experience leading engineering teams in early-stage companies or pre-product-market-fit environments. You understand the pace and ambiguity of startup life.

Strong technical background with hands-on experience in our stack (Go, Python, Kubernetes). You should be deeply familiar with LLMs and modern AI infrastructure.

Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams. You genuinely enjoy helping others succeed and creating a collaborative culture.

Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with business impact. You can identify and focus on high-impact projects that move the company forward.
